Farmgirls Step Up

For the last month our chapter has been working on making chemo caps for the Cancer Treatment Center in Klamath Falls. Some were crocheted while others were sewn. Everyone really stepped up to the challenge to get as many done as possible for the month.

Today they were taken to the Center and were welcomed with warm smiles. We were told this is one item that they go through a lot. As we walked away feeling good about what we all did, it struck us that such a selfish, simple jester was of great meaning and thankfulness to so many.

It truely feels good to be able to give, even if you don't have a lot of money, just some of your time. Thank you ladies for a job well done.

Making Christmas Kabobs for the Bazarr

Today the chicks met to make candy kabobs to sell at a local bazarr December 5 & 6th.
The proceeds from the sale will go to benefit one of our "sisters ' daughter who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Lots of fun and over 75 kabobs were completed.

We met for lunch at Marygail's. What a hen party we had. We have also adopted a needy local family and will provide a complete Christmas including a turkey dinner, tree with all the trimmings, stockings and gifts. More pictures will be posted when we gather again to deliver the gifts.

Eight is Not Enough

Yes, that's us...(left to right : seated Julie, Cheryl, Robin, April, JoAnn, Marygail, Faith and the birthday girl... Gail seated.) See how we have grown.... We are now at 8 and Our membership is still open.
We enjoyed a Surprise Birthday Lunch for Gail at our Meeting Nov 20th in my home. Our Chapter has adopted a family of 5 for Christmas. We will be providing a tree with all the trimmings, stockings and food and gifts for the family.
Another project we are working on is crocheting and sewing chemo caps for local Cancer patients, and will be donating bazarr items to sell with proceeds going to one of our members for her daughters medical expences. She has no insurance and has been diagnosed with breast cancer and under going chemo treatments right now. It will be a busy time for the Charming Chicks from now until Christmas. We are happy to be able to give back to our community. We are planning a fun Girls day after the holidays to celebrate our chapter efforts and will be adding possibly 3 more members.. Our next meeting will be Nov 29th in Marygail's home.

New Beginings, New friends

Today we met to re-group. Our chapter has defined a few things we want to accomplish as friends and farmgirls. Some goals for our chapter as well as good "sister fun".
We enjoyed a nice lunch in my home with our two newest members April & Mary Gail. We visited, laughed and challenged each other to a "MJBread Throwdown" We all made our MJ recipe starter. Next week we will meet at Gail's to compare our bread and make some laundry soap. Hopefully we will also add another member who couldn't meet with us today. It was a great day for these 5 Charming Chick members.. Gail our photographer was somehow not photographed , but we will get her next time !

I will pick a day to meet when I get an idea of when it is best for everyone to meet. I will be out of town Oct 15th -2oth but any other day is workable for me....This would be a great time to come and check out our chapter, meet the members and enjoy each others company. Gone Fishing

A few of us girls went out to Fish Lake the other day and spent the entire time fishing. Only caught three small ones we threw back in, but had a great time none the less. Beautiful weather and nice, peacful and relaxing.
We will be planning a camping trip near Lake of the Woods come early October and will be meeting up with our Farmgirl sisters from the Rogue River.

Scrapbook Meeting

This was one of our get togethers where we each worked on a page for our scrapbook. We had a nice lunch and made plans about what each of us would like to work on next. One farmgirl will be having a class on making outdoor lanterns from mason jars. Another will have a get together to show how to make all natural cleaners for our home. When the tomatoes at the garden are ripe, we will have a canning lesson on making salsa. Those who are interested can come and learn. It is up to each of us to put out our interests in what we would like to do.

Farm Fair 2009

This is when we went to 4th of July farm fair in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho for three days for the MaryJanes roaring 20's affair. We not only got to dress up but we did a lot of bartering and buying from vendors and such up and down the Palouse. We met MaryJane and her family and many other farmgirls in the Sisterhood.

Our co-op garden

This is what Cheryl and I have been doing the last four months. We are now only waiting on the tomatoes and corn to ripen. Most everything else has been picked each week or finished alltogether. We have really enjoyed the soil that this garden has and are very thankful to Butch and his wife, Debbie who have allowed us to use their garden to grow are many heirloom and organic seeds for our first time. We hope to be able to do this again next year.

Welcome

Cheryl Severeide & Gail Springman

Today is the first day for many interesting things to come. We have finally made a blogsite for all to see what we "Charming Chicks" are up to. Gail & I have been working at getting this chapter up and running for most of the Spring and Summer. We have planted a garden of heirloom vegetables and are earning many badges through the MaryJane Farmgirls Sisterhood. You can join us anytime. We both raise chickens and love being farmgirls. Follow us as we add more pictures of our chapter life. We have started a scrap book journal of things we have so far accomplished and will post new things here.
So come sit with us here and read about our adventures or come into our livingrooms and share with us what you like to do. We welcome all comments.
